Myofascial Release (MFR) – is a powerful and effective treatment to relieve pain, release restrictions, tension, imbalances and holding patterns in the body. The fascia is a continuous three dimensional network in the body that connects us from head to toe. Surrounding and infusing muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones, tissues and organs, it is the body’s shock absorber. Fascia can become restricted through injury, trauma, poor posture, repetitive movements and inflammation. MFR can help with so many symptoms it’s hard to list them all but here’s an example – frozen shoulder, headaches / migraines, tinnitus, backache, pelvic pain, tight hamstrings, sports injuries, scar tissue, pregnancy discomfort, fibromyalgia, prolapse, trauma.
I’m currently studying towards a diploma in Myofascial Release and my charges reflect this with a lower rate of £20 an hour.
Sessions can be 1 / 1.5 / 2 hours. First session including consultation is a minimum of 1.5 hours
Myofascial Release techniques for the Pelvis
These myofascial release techniques release restrictions around the pelvic diaphragm easing aches and discomfort in the back and pelvis including symptome of pelvice girdle pain / SPD and the balancing nature of this treatment encourages babies into an optimal position for birth. This is a safe, gentle and often powerful treatment. £35 for an hour. Can be included as part of a Mizan Therapy session or Postnatal Recovery Massage.
Scar Tissue Release
Myofascial release techniques specifically for scars to reduce pain, improve movement, sensitivity & relieve numbness. Scar tissue can cause pain & restriction, adhesions, affect movement of fluid through the body and affect the function of organs & the muskuloskeletal system leading to imbalance. Damage to body tissues can have implications years later and the connection to current symptoms may not be obviously connected with the scar. Scars can be from various causes – surgical incisions such as caesarean section and appendectomy; key hole surgery; traction; adhesions; burns; tears; inflammation & more.
Scar tissue release can be a stand alone treatment or included as part of a Mizan Therapy treatment (eg for caesarean scars or adhesions from endometriosis), Postnatal Recovery Massage or a general Myofascial Release treatment.
Postnatal Recovery Massage
This is a gentle, effective and deeply nurturing treatment to nourish, support and comfort women after birth. Beneficial whether you have recently given birth or it’s been many years since you had your children. Inspired by a traditional Ecuadoran postnatal massage called closing the bones – and with thanks to the indigenous teachers who have shared their knowledge – the Postnatal Recovery Massage (PRM) is done on a massage table and involves using a rebozo shawl to rock and bind the mother’s body, together with an extensive massage of the abdomen, hips, waist, ribs, chest and arms. It is designed to help realign and balance a new mother, as well as help her return to her center, both physically and energetically.
£50 for a single session. 3 treatment package £120 (to be taken weekly or fortnightly).
“Had an amazing postnatal recovery massage with Rosa today. Absolute bliss. Abdominal massage feels fantastic after pregnancy and being wrapped and held in rebozos feels so very grounding. Rosa is brilliant, I felt totally calm, relaxed, safe and cosy in her therapy space.”
‘Closing the Bones’ – a deeply relaxing, therapeutic and non-invasive process using a Mexican shawl (Rebozo) wrapped around the head, shoulders and other parts of the body. Traditionally performed by Mexican midwives and so called because it helps ‘close’ the mothers bones and bring her ’back to herself’ after being so open during pregnancy and birth.
This treatment can be enjoyed on it’s own, as well as being part of the Postnatal Recovery Massage; part of a postnatal Mizan treatment; in combination with Reiki or as part of my postnatal doula service.
Reiki is a non-invasive form of healing that is therapeutic, relaxing and has many benefits. It is wonderful to receive at any time and particularly nice when you are a new mum / mum-to-be! You remain fully clothed during a Reiki treatment and it can be performed either hands-on or with hands above the body. If you haven’t heard of Reiki and would like to know more click here.
During a treatment you may feel warmth or heat from my hands and many people find it a deeply relaxing and restorative experience. £35 for an hour treatment.
